BIG.

News and baby that is.

The big news? As of 5:30pm today, I will be a stay-at-home wife. Well, until the baby comes anyways. Then I'll be a stay-at-home mommy. :) I know, I know. Quite a change from working as sweet S&A's nanny and bringing Baby T with me, but this is a step we've always wanted me to take. Thanks to the lovely pregnancy hormones though, I have a little trouble not going all Eyeore-pessimistic about this change. At times, this step feels more like a giant leap where I can't quite see the landing and so I envision that I'm just going to free-fall thousands of miles to my death instead of landing on my feet - which by the way, I can no longer see due to the massive amounts of baby exploding from my stomach (more on that later). But hormonal self aside, we're very thankful that Kevin is able to support all of us (we live fairly frugally) and we're just really excited about me getting to be at home to raise our growing family. :)

The big baby? Well, that's no surprise. I had another doctor's appointment today and once again, Baby is measuring ahead - this time, at about 37-38 weeks. {I'm only 34 weeks.} I met the newest doctor of the practice today - the son of the doctor who called my uterus a "mansion" a few weeks ago. He was very sweet - all of the doctors are really. I feel like whichever doctor is on call when I go into labor is going to take great care of us, which is really comforting. :) Anywaysss, back to the appointment. The son-doctor today said that he "thinks the baby isn't as big as we're all scared of it being" since Baby is all out in front and hasn't begun to 'drop' yet, so that may be throwing the measurements off. {Don't worry, I gave him grief for using the word "scared"... well, and for his dad calling me "huge". He says he gets razzed a lot because of his dad. Haha} Another great appointment down and another one scheduled in two weeks. The sonogram is still scheduled for 3 weeks from today, so we'll see then how big this roly poly is. :)

It's Big Foot! It's the Abominable Snowman!

No.... It's just my giant of a baby.

The terms wow, extremely, mansion, chubby, and very have been used over the last few appointments. As in.....

"Wow! You're huge!!"
"This baby is going to be extremely smart!!" (aka large head)
"You have a mansion of a home for your baby!!"
"Look at those chubby cheeks and that chubby belly!!"
"You're growing a verrry healthy sized baby!!"

{And yes, they were all said in italics with multiple exclamation points. ;)}

Well then. That settles it. I was wrong and my brothers were right all along... There is no baby growing inside me; it's a sasquatch.

My last sonogram at 30 weeks was going to be the final one of this pregnancy. But based on several factors -- me/baby have consistently been measuring on the big side/ahead, I'm pretty much all belly, and my weight gain is on the small side in relation to how I/baby measure -- my doctor has scheduled me for another sonogram in 5 weeks (approx. 37 weeks) to "see what we're dealing with here". Gone are the days where we were excited about our "quarter pounder" and now have nightmares (okay, so maybe just me) about twenty pound babies. ;)

We'll keep you posted!

Baby Showers

Wow, you guys. Y'all spoil us. Seriously. We've been thrown 3 wonderful baby showers - a surprise shower by our niece and best friend, a work shower by Kevin's boss and co-worker, and an out-of-town family shower by my aunt and uncle! Here are just a few pictures from the lovely events...

~~SURPRISE SHOWER~~

One of the sweet hosts, Lauren

Kristen always jokes that she's going to high-five the baby and say "HAYYY" whenever she meets it.... She's already practicing! ;)

The other wonderful host, Julie

A game where we had to fill in the blanks on nursery rhyme phrases - it was tough!

Fun diaper cake and yummy cupcakes!

Another surprise! People brought books for the baby in lieu of cards. Here's one I received - a favorite of mine! (Chicka Chicka Boom Boom)

~~WORK SHOWER~~

The wonderful hosts, Linda & Terry

The giver of this gift described it as a very practical one (love it!) - head/body support, car organizer, and the "mommy hook"!

One of the many homemade blankets we received. Can you see the angel in this one?

~~WOODLANDS SHOWER~~

LOVE it! My uncle gave Kevin "midnight bottles" of his own for when he's up with the baby's midnight bottle!

Jumperoo!

Not sure what we were laughing at here, but I like this picture. :)

One of my brothers gave us a dog-themed gift - including car seat strap covers - one of my cousins really liked them! :)

Nursery Rhyme Charades :)
